# AI Portfolio Management

Govern your AI estate in one view, from the register of models and other AI assets to their risk, evidence and forecast value.

AI Portfolio Management (AIPM) gives you one view of the AI your organisation uses: the models, agents, prompts, skills, datasets and data stores, where each sits in its lifecycle, and what is missing before you can govern it. It points you to the next decision for each model and shows what is still unknown, without filling gaps with guesses.

## What it is

A full-page view called **AI Portfolio Management**, with the subtitle **Registered AI models, the risk they carry and the value they return**. A status chip next to the title shows the share of registered models in use. It has four tabs.

<figure><img src="https://414746897-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fx4mE784snR9Eb8oVrk4e%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-2fd4dcfb189b3677c3f5331b79cb5157c86b6096%2Fcommand-page-aipm.png?alt=media" alt="The AI Portfolio Management Overview tab with the four summary cards and the Models to review grid with a Next step for each model."><figcaption><p>The AI Portfolio Management Overview</p></figcaption></figure>

| Tab                 | Question it answers                                                                                        |
| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Overview** | What needs a decision, where AI creates value, what a change would affect, and what the estate looks like. |
| **AI assets** | What is registered, by kind and lifecycle. Includes the model catalogue and runtime requests. |
| **Risk & evidence** | Is there enough evidence to govern the estate, and where are the gaps? |
| **Value** | Are we investing within plan and creating sufficient value? |

On **Overview**, four cards switch the question shown below them:

| Card                    | Shows                                                                         |
| ----------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Models to review** | Models that need an owner, a review before activation, or a replacement plan. |
| **Forecast return** | Expected benefit against cost. |
| **Application mapping** | Which applications each model is linked to. |
| **AI models** | The registered models. |

Each model has a **Next step**, for example **Assign an accountable owner**, **Review before activation**, **Plan replacement or retirement** or **Confirm lifecycle placement**.

## When to use it

* You own AI governance and need to know which models have no owner, no risk class or no lifecycle.
* You are asked what AI is in use and which applications depend on it.
* You need a forecast of AI cost against benefit.
* A team needs a new AI runtime and you want the request to go through intake.

## How to

### Open the view

1. Click **AI Portfolio Management** in the activity rail.

### Work the decisions

1. On **Overview**, click **Models to review**.
2. Read the **Next step** for each model.
3. Open the **Model decision brief** and use **Open governed record**, **Inspect model details** or **Review portfolio evidence**.

### Check evidence and risk

1. Open **Risk & evidence**.
2. Under **Evidence coverage**, see how many assets have a risk class, an accountable owner, a lifecycle, a source, an application mapping and performance evidence.
3. Under **Priority gaps**, read the counts for **No accountable owner**, **No risk class** and **Not on a lifecycle**. Click **Not on a lifecycle** to see those records.

### Browse and request AI assets

1. Click **Explore AI assets**, or open **AI assets**.
2. Pick a kind: **Models**, **Agents**, **Prompts**, **Skills**, **Datasets** or **Data stores**.
3. In the model catalogue, filter by **Availability**, **Provider** or **Model source**.
4. To ask for a new runtime, click **Request runtime**. The request continues in your organisation's ServiceNow intake. Use **My requests** to follow it.

## Good to know

* **No risk class** means the model is unclassified under the EU AI Act. That is not the same as low risk.
* Value figures are forecasts. Realized value is not measured yet, and the view says so.
* Coverage figures say how complete the evidence is. They are not a governance verdict.
* When something cannot be read, the view says **Not measured**, **Not available** or **Checking** instead of showing zero.
* The first load of this view can take several seconds on a large estate. Use the refresh button (**Refresh AI portfolio**) to load it again.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Regulated AI assessments, activation gates and scenario comparison for AI are not part of this view yet.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
If the view says you do not have permission to read the AI register, or that the AI register is not present on the instance, ask your ServiceNow administrator.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.ins-pi.com/command/features/ai-portfolio-management.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
