# About Designer

Designer is a powerful and intuitive diagramming and modeling application that runs entirely on ServiceNow, enabling you to create and visualize real-time diagrams and models based on ServiceNow data.

Whether you're a ServiceNow admin or a business user, Designer helps you visualize complex data sets and communicate insights more effectively. Create custom diagrams, heat maps, and other visualizations that update in real-time as your data changes. This saves time, increases accuracy, and helps you make better decisions based on up-to-date information.

## Designer View (Edit Mode)

Designer's edit mode offers an extensive library of over 4,000 shapes based on industry notations, enabling you to create visually appealing diagrams with ease. By leveraging live data from ServiceNow, you can create both current state diagrams and future state models, as well as heat maps, stack diagrams, and more. Diagram creation becomes a streamlined and efficient process, allowing you to focus on creating accurate representations of complex systems and processes.

## Diagrams View

The Diagrams View is a convenient way to browse and manage all your saved diagrams. From this view, you can:

* Quickly search for specific diagrams
* Sort them by name or date
* Create new diagrams from existing ones
* Share diagrams with colleagues or make them publicly available

## Presenter View

The Presenter view allows you to share your diagrams with colleagues in real-time. Give live presentations of your diagrams complete with annotations, animations, and other interactive features. This is a great way to collaborate with others, get feedback on your diagrams, and communicate complex ideas more effectively.

## Best Practices

* **Use consistent naming conventions** for your diagrams, and include metadata such as author, date, and purpose.
* **Use clear, concise labels** for all shapes and connectors. Avoid using technical jargon or abbreviations that may confuse non-experts.
* **Use color and shading sparingly** to highlight important information, but don't overdo it. Too many colors or gradients can be distracting and make diagrams harder to read.
* **Use collapsible containers** to group related shapes and connectors, and provide a high-level overview. This helps readers quickly understand the structure and relationships before diving into details.
* **Use hyperlinks** to connect related diagrams or external resources. This helps readers navigate between different parts of your diagram or access additional information.

## Compatibility

Designer is compatible with most modern web browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. To ensure optimal performance, we recommend using the latest version of your preferred browser.

Designer currently runs in UI14, which is compatible with the following browsers:

* Chrome 103+
* Firefox 102+
* Safari 15+
* Edge 100+

#### Not Supported Browsers

* **Edge Legacy** (end of support: 9 March 2021)
* **Internet Explorer 11+** (end of support: 17 August 2021)

Some features of Designer may not work properly on older or unsupported browsers. Additionally, JavaScript must be enabled in your browser for Designer to function properly.
