# Formatting Shapes – Style

Explanation on how to format shapes' styles in Designer.

Shape styles are visual only and are not associated with any data in ServiceNow. Shapes can be colored by the user to express an indicator e.g. risk, cost, lifecycle, KPI's etc.

Select a shape to see the styling options in the FORMAT tab. The tab contains rich formatting options to change the shape and edge color. Based on the selected shape type different options are available.
