Descendants

Highlighting / Unhighlighting, and Collapsing / Expanding Descendants can help you to clean up your diagram and to focus on the import things you want to emphasize.

Highlight / Unhighlight Descendants

Highlighting a specific shape including Descendants in a Diagram can improve visibility for stakeholders.

To use the Highlight feature follow these instructions:

A – Right-click a shape which has descendants.

B – Click the ‘Highlight Descendants’ option. All other shapes and relationships which are not descendants are shown transparently.

C – Right-click on a shape or the canvas background to and select the ‘Unhighlight All’ option to remove the highlighting.

Collapse / Expand Descendants

Making a shape and its descendants collapsible/expandable can improve readability of the diagram and provide additional interactivity.

To use the Collapse feature follow these instructions:

A – Right-click a shape which has descendants.

B – Click the ‘Collapse Descendants’ option.

C – The descendants are collapsed and a ‘+’ button added next to the shape.

D – Use ‘-‘ button to collapse again.

The ‘+’ & ‘-‘ buttons remain once the ‘Collapse Descendants’ option is used.
