View & Present Diagrams

The Designer Presentation mode provides read-only access to interactive live diagrams.

The Designer Presentation mode is the easiest way to share your diagrams within your organization, as

  • diagram content and realtime indicator are updated automatically,
  • the diagram content is interactive i.e. you can click on the shapes to drill-in into the form view, other diagrams, or URLs,
  • users can interact e.g. zoom in/out, export, print, and comment, and
  • consumers can focus directly on the content without getting distracted through other options.

In this article you will learn the different options how to:

Sharing the Diagram URL for presentation mode

Sharing the diagram URL with other users to access directly the diagram in the presentation mode is pretty simple. You have 2 different places where you can copy the diagram URL for presentation:

1. In Diagrams List View

To share the Diagram URL in the Diagrams list view, navigate in ServiceNow to Designer > Diagrams and select the Diagram you want to share.

A — Click on the 3-dots at the top right corner

B — Select Copy URL

C — Click Presentation

The presentation link to the current diagram is copied to your clipboard. You can paste it now into your target application by using CTRL+V / CMD+V on your computer. 

2. In Editor View

To share the Diagram URL while you are editing your diagram, make sure you have saved the diagram.Designer Editor Copy Presentation Link

D — Click the symbol   

The presentation link to the current edited diagram is copied to your clipboard. You can paste it now into your target application by using CTRL+V / CMD+V on your computer and enjoy the diagram in the presentation mode.  

Presenting Diagrams

You can directly start a diagram presentation out of the Designer application without copying the URL as described before. You have 2 different options to do so: 

1. In Diagrams List View

To present a diagram, navigate in ServiceNow to Designer > Diagrams and select the Diagram you want to present.

A — Click the Present button

The Diagram will open in a new browser tab in the presentation mode.

2. In Editor View

To present a diagram while you are editing the diagram, make sure that you have saved the current diagram.

B — Click Present

The Diagram will open in a new browser tab in the presentation mode.

 

Using the Presentation Mode (Version 5.3 and newer releases)

Once you have opened a diagram in the presentation mode, there are 3 main sections:

Designer Presentation Canvas

A — Diagram content frame

B — Presentation mode menu (only visible when moving/hovering the mouse)

C — Panels showing additional information e.g. layers, realtime indicators, and comments

 

Let's have a closer look to the different options available in the presentation mode: 

Designer Presentation Canvas Menu

D — Click to see the current Designer version information

E — Name of the diagram

F — Click to stick the menu to the top right

G — Zoom out

H — Zoom in

I — Reset zoom to 100%

J — Click to show layers (only visible if multiple layer exist)

K — Export diagram as PNG

L — Print diagram

M — Freehand drawing

N — Public commenting

O — Fullscreen mode

Layer & Realtime Indicators

Starting with Designer Version 5.3 Realtime Indicators are now clickable to highlight specific areas within the Diagram. Continue clicking on Realtime Indicators to highlight them on the Diagram.
